The Catholic Men’s society has a long history, dating back over 130 years in Leith. They gather for Mass at St Mary’s on the first Sunday of each month, and then meet afterwards. They have regular talks on a variety of faith and justice issues, and are committed fundraisers for their chosen charity Let the Children Live. New members always welcome. Holy Family Lay Associates
Taking the name given to them by founder Pierre Bienvenue Noialles in the early 19th century, the Holy Family Lay associates are a worldwide family, who strive to live their lives taking Jesus, Mary and Joseph as their models, offering their daily tasks for ‘God alone’. Members are challenged to create a place of sharing, mutual support and encouragement and deepening of faith. The Leith Group meet on the last Friday of every month at 1.30pm, for prayer and discussion, and link with other groups, meeting up with the Livingston group for special feast days, and attending National events in Liverpool. This is our justice, peace and integrity of creation group. We meet on the last Monday of each month at 6pm, all very welcome. We are an active group, aiming to carry out tangible, practical activities which demonstrate a vision of justice and peace, focusing on a different theme each two months.
Meet in the hall every Tuesday afternoon, a get together for tea and bingo, from 1pm to 3pm. All very welcome.
The scripture groups meets on the last Tuesday of every month at 7pm in the parish house to reflect on scripture, using resources written by Fr Brian De Burca OMI. Talk to Veronica Halloran for more information.
St Vincent De Paul Society
The SvDP do a fantastic job collecting funds each month in the parish for out-reach in the community. If you would like to get involved contact Norma Clarke. This is a toddler group which runs on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 in the parish hall, with toys and music in a relaxed environment, on a drop-in basis, all welcome.
